Justice Adediran: ‘We have lost a doyen of the bar, community leader in Ogbomoso ’— Afonja

Former Commissioner for Works and Transport in Oyo State, Prof. Abdul-Rahman Raphael Afonja (PARA), has mourned the demise of former Chief Judge of Oyo state, and worldwide President of Egbe Ọmọ Ogbomoso Parapo, Justice Afolabi Adeniran, who passed away on Sunday at the age of 87.

In a statement on Monday, Prof. Afonja described the late Justice Adeniran as a highly respected figure greatly admired for his leadership prowess, integrity, and dedication to public service.

He noted that Ogbomoso has not only lost a community leader, but a doyen of the bar who was a highly respected former chief judge of the state.

The former commissioner highlighted Justice Adeniran’s contributions to the development of Ogbomosoland and Oyo State, noting that he was a champion of accountability, social justice, and education reform.

He added that Baba worked assiduously for the progress of Ogbomoso land and Oyo State, leaving indelible marks in the sands of time.

Prof. Afonja further described Justice Adeniran’s transition as painful to the legal community, Ogbomosoland, and Oyo state, saying, “With his death, the entire Ogbomosoland and the people of Oyo State have lost an illustrious and distinguished son, whose quality and wise counsel would be greatly missed.”

Afonja however extended his deepest sympathies to Justice Adeniran’s immediate and extended families, noting that his legacy would live on through the countless lives he touched and the values he instilled in the community.

“May you find strength in his enduring impact during this difficult time, and may God heal the wound created by his transition,” he prayed.
