PHOTOS: Oyo North PDP Senatorial meeting attracts massive turnout

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State has demonstrated unity ahead of the 2027 election, with a large turnout of supporters and members converging at the Lagbami Osekun Hall in Ogbomoso South Local Government Area for its Oyo North Senatorial meeting.
The event was attended by several party stalwarts and stakeholders, including the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barr. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal; Chief of Staff to Governor Seyi Makinde, Segun Ogunwuyi; PDP Board of Trustees member, Hamid Gbadamosi; and Oyo Majority Leader, Sanjo Adedoyin, among others.
While addressing party members, the Deputy Governor praised the large turnout of PDP members and promised to relay all reports to Governor Makinde regarding developments in the Oyo North Senatorial district.
He emphasized the party’s commitment to reconciliation and unity, cautioning members against divisive statements.
Barr. Lawal emphasized that Governor Makinde will continue to ensure that everyone benefits from the party, commending Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South, and Iseyin local governments for their unity and support. He urged other party members to follow suit and refrain from division.
He pledged to continue supporting the party with financial contributions, including N500,000 for every senatorial meeting and N1 million for expanded senatorial meetings, whilst advising that the senatorial meetings should be held regularly or ideally every two months.
The Deputy Governor, who equally commended the current administration for surpassing the record of employment from 1999 to date, however noted that the Governor deserves commendation for his efforts.
He called on the local government to ensure that the dividends of democracy are felt by the people and to escalate projects to the Oyo State government when necessary.
Additionally, Barr. Lawal appealed to the party to conduct local government-level elections for executive committee members in each local government separately to prevent potential conflicts, emphasizing that each local government should focus on its own affairs.
Several party leaders and stakeholders at the meeting also paid tribute to Governor Seyi Makinde’s leadership, expressing their commitment to unity and support ahead of the 2027 election.
On his part, the Majority Leader of the House of Assembly, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, representing Ogbomoso South Constituency, reiterated the House’s support for Governor Makinde’s developmental agenda, encouraging members to remain optimistic about future opportunities.
Other notable figures, including Chief Jacob Adetoro, Kunmi Mustapha, and Shina Peller, urged party members to maintain unity, respect party interests, and avoid division. They acknowledged that misunderstandings are inevitable but stressed the importance of prioritizing the party’s majority status in the state.
In his submission, the former Deputy Governor, Engr. Hamid Gbadamosi, who expressed confidence in the party’s growth, predicted that PDP would rule most states and the federal level by 2027.
He thanked Governor Makinde for nominating him to the Board of Trustees, as well as the Deputy Governor for his support, pledging not to betray the trust placed in him.
Also speaking, the chairman of Elders Council to Governor Seyi Makinde, Baba Saka Balogun, equally commended Governor Makinde’s performance and appealed for fair distribution of appointments by party leaders.
The Chairman of Oyo North PDP Senatorial District, Hon. Yusuf, however highlighted the party’s efforts to resolve crises and commended the Governor’s support for party executives, including the recent procurement of vehicles.
In his vote of thanks, the Chief of Staff to Governor Makinde, Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi expressed gratitude to PDP members for their turnout and promised that the party would take care of everyone.
The event also featured generous donations from notable party leaders and members, including Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi, further demonstrating their commitment to the party’s growth and unity.
