Oyo Deputy Gov Attends Irepo Grammar School’s 60th Anniversary, Tasks Alumni on Unity
Barr. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, the Oyo State Deputy Governor, on Wednesday, attended the 60th anniversary of Irepo Grammar School in Igboho, emphasizing the importance of unity, cooperation, and understanding among the alumni for the school’s development.
He noted that the existence of the present Day Irepo Grammar School came into being with the cooperation of these three major towns-Igboho, Igbeti and Kishi all in Oke-Ogun area of Oyo State.
The Deputy Governor, a 1975 alumnus, highlighted that alumni members have a responsibility to support the school’s progress.
He commended the collective efforts of the alumni for raising the standard of education and setting a benchmark for excellence.
While expressing gratitude for being chosen as the BOT chairman, as well as for the smooth leadership transitions, Barr. Lawal emphasized that the founding fathers chose to locate the school in Igboho to meet the educational needs of the three local governments under the old Irepo, attracting students from the East, North, South, and other parts of the country.
He encouraged the old students’ association to foster cooperation and understanding for the school’s and Old Irepo Federal Constituency’s development.
The Deputy Governor however urged the school management to maintain discipline among the students whilst congratulating alumni members and students on the 60th anniversary.
Earlier in his remarks, the school Senior Prefect, Anifalaje Jamiu, highlighted that the school has shaped thousands of lives, producing distinguished individuals in various fields.
He acknowledged the Irepo Grammar School Igboho Old Students Association (IGSIOSA) for its contributions to the school’s development, including addressing challenges and supporting renovations.
He called for more scholarships, infrastructure, and modern facilities.
On his part, the Principal, Comrade Fatowo Abraham Oluremi commended the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde, for his support and innovations in the education system.
He appreciated the National Executive and Board of Trustees of IGSIOSA, old student year sets, and individual alumni for their dedication.
The event also featured a fundraising and was attended by various dignitaries, including Prof. Soliu Adelabu, Alhaji Monsur Ejide, Lanre Agoro, and a host of others.
