How Oyo Youth Agency Changing Lives — Prince Falana
The Chairman of the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, Prince Adebowale Falana, has said that the agency’s efforts towards youth development in the state are yielding positive results.
Speaking at a press conference to commemorate his one-year anniversary in office, Prince Falana highlighted the agency’s achievements and future plans.
According to him, the agency has empowered youths through various initiatives, including a collaboration with The Polytechnic, Ibadan, to equip them with vocational and technical skills. The agency also plans to establish a Technology Hub and Skill Acquisition Centre to provide training opportunities for young people.
Prince Falana noted that the agency is working with SMEDAN to empower 5,000 youths across the state with practical skills and industry experience. He emphasized that the agency is committed to ensuring that its programs are inclusive and far-reaching, engaging six registered youth stakeholder groups.
The Chairman reflected on the recent Oyo Youth Summit, saying it is making a positive impact by changing young people’s orientation towards self-reliance. However, he noted that changing the mindset of some youths remains a challenge, particularly with regards to the growing spirit of entitlement.
Prince Falana urged Oyo State youths to take full advantage of the opportunities being rolled out by the agency, affirming the government’s commitment to youth development and empowerment.
