B’day: Oluyole LG Chairman Felicitates Chief Imam of Ibadan, Sheikh Agbotomokekere, Iba Nureni Akanbi
The Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Asiwaju Akeem Olatunji, has described the Chief Imam of Ibadan and Grand Chief Imam of Oyo state, Sheikh Abdulganiy Agbotomokekere as a beacon of peace, wisdom, and spiritual guidance whose leadership has contributed immensely to the religious harmony and socio-cultural development of Oyo State.
The Council chairman’s tribute was contained in a congratulatory message to felicitate the Muslim leader on the occasion of his 90th birthday anniversary celebration held on May 4, 2025.
Olatunji also expressed warm felicitation to Iba Oluyole, Alhaji Nureni Akanbi, on the occasion of his birthday anniversary yesterday.
Olatunji described the duo as his father and fathers of many fathers as well as role models to many in Ibadanland and Oyo state as a whole noting that they have made and are still making indelible impacts to humanity through their selflessness and dedication to the development of Ibadan and the state.
“On behalf of the government and the good people of Oluyole Local Government, I congratulate and celebrate our revered spiritual father, the Chief Imam of Ibadan and Grand Chief Imam of Oyo state, Sheikh Abdulganiy Agbotomokekere on the attainment of this rare milestone of 90th birthday anniversary.
“This is clearly beyond just living healthy and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, despite his very demanding role as the spiritual leader of all Muslims in Ibadanland and Oyo state as a whole, baba’s physical fitness has been extremely admirable and I attribute this to God’s special grace and love for him,” Olatunji stated.
He further lauded the Chief Imam’s steadfast commitment to Islamic teachings, community development, and peaceful coexistence among the diverse ethnic and religious groups in the state.
“The Grand Chief Imam’s humility, deep knowledge, and relentless service to humanity have continued to inspire countless followers. We pray that Almighty Allah grants him more years in good health, wisdom, and strength to continue his noble mission,” he added.
Also, in his tribute to Iba Oluyole, Alhaji Nureni Akanbi, Olatunji said the Islamic and traditional leader has been critically instrumental to the preservation of the rich cultural heritage and tradition of Ibadanland, making it now more attractive to the global community and international organizations.
“I also must specially felicitate and celebrate my father, Iba Oluyole, Alhaji Nureni Akanbi, as he marks another milestone in his impactful journey of life and service to not just Ibadanland and Oyo, but Nigeria as a whole.
“It is indeed the guidance and mentorship of our fathers like Alhaji Adekanbi, vast in wisdom, knowledge and understanding of life and its intricacies, that someone like me have been privileged to draw from the wealth of his wisdom to guide myself not just as a son of the soil but also as a young politician and a public administrator.
“I pray for longer life in good health, sound mind, and physical vitality as baba continues to serve Ibadanland and humanity as a whole,” Olatunji concluded.
