Oyo Deputy Gov mourns as remains of Adeojo laid to rest
Oyo State’s Deputy Governor, Barr. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, joined other prominent stakeholders to bid farewell to the late Alhaji Yekini Adeojo, a renowned Ibadan-based politician and founding father of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), during his funeral service on Friday.
Lawal described Adeojo’s passing as the end of a glorious political era, offering condolences to the family and praying for their strength during this difficult time.
Adeojo, who was the PDP’s governorship standard-bearer in the 1999 election, died after a brief illness at his Iyaganku residence in Ibadan.
The Janazah prayers, led by the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Alhaji AbdulGaniy Agbotomokekere, were held at Adeojo’s Iyaganku House.
Agbotomokekere described Adeojo as a devoted Muslim, emphasizing the inevitability of death and the importance of living a virtuous life.
Several notable figures attended the funeral, including Islamic scholars, religious leaders, and politicians such as Oyo South Senator Sharafadeen Ali and Sultan Representative Alhaji Razaq Oladejo.
Adeojo’s burial was conducted in accordance with Islamic rites, marking the end of an era in Oyo State’s politics.
