MONEY By ADERIBIGBE VICTOR

At times, I always wish I could recoup all the money I’ve wasted on life’s frivolities, especially whenever I’m dead broke or whenever I have a better thing in mind that I could use the money spent on life’s frivolities for. One will later realize that the so-called friends you spend those times and financial resources with don’t really care about you.

I do advise that you don’t spend huge amounts on a lifestyle that only nice pictures will be the only value added to you. Whenever I come across younger ones treading that path of wasting financial resources, I intentionally don’t advise them because I know that poverty was curated for a purpose, and they won’t make use of such advice the same way I was advised then that “Alejo Lowo” (Money is a visitor) and I thought the then older ones just don’t want me to enjoy life.

I know and believe that as they age, life’s reality check will bring them back to order, although some might fall off forever after lavishing their youthful financial resources frivolously with friends who don’t care and won’t help in times of need.

Money doesn’t care about your age or background. You can be in your 30s and be a billionaire, and you can be in your 70s and be a night watchman or gateman. Money majorly comes through how you utilize every opportunity that comes your way and how you provide solutions to problems. How wealthy you will become can be determined by what you do and engage in daily. You can’t compare the income of someone who sells Garri daily in large quantities to someone who sells petroleum products in high volumes daily or real estate.

The kind of friends or people you spend most of your time with can accelerate or decelerate your financial growth. If the friends you keep and spend more time with are going nowhere, you might seem not to get anywhere in life too. The more value you add to yourself, the more easily money will come your way. Unfortunately, we are in a nation where money plays a significant role in where people will place you in society. Your financial strength commands respect differently in our climate. Your financial strength will make you realize there’s a difference between “Come and sit here and find somewhere to sit.”

As one ages, one will be more strategic and intentional about spending and saving, while one will take scale of preference more seriously, and one will identify the difference between wants and needs. Only a few survive to still stand financially after lavishing at a younger age because, as one ages, one realizes how much nonsense someone has wasted resources on.

Life was designed for one to rise and fall and rise to fall again and to learn from both experiences in order to forge ahead in later life. Life will always have different meanings at every stage of life.

Back then, at my more youthful age, I always thought money would always come my way because money seemed too easy to come by then, and you could turn things around with just a little resource. Life was so fun then, no matter the amount you had. Someone told me recently that nowadays, life is very hard, and money is very hard to make. But I differ with that opinion; life is even easier now, and it’s much easier to make money yourself now than then because technology is involved in every aspect of our daily lives, making life easier.

Lots of younger ones are making lots of money legitimately without leaving their comfort zones, just using their creativity. They buy cars, build houses, and live a life that takes their parents or older ones a lifetime to achieve. Real wealth has now been digitalized, and if you snooze, you lose.

If you have any product, you can now post it on various social platforms and earn in both local and international currencies because your product will be seen across the world. And lots of people are making lots of money digitally in foreign currencies by leveraging social media platforms, which can be monetized. One can learn lots of ways to make money digitally on YouTube and other various platforms.

The major way to live life to its fullness in Nigeria now, due to the high increase in the cost of commodities, is to earn in leading foreign currencies digitally. Lots of young kids now make lots of money in their comfort zones, such as through crypto, forex, YouTube, TikTok streaming, ghostwriting, online book publishing, affiliate marketing, blogging, software development, skit making, etc. Making real wealth now involves smart work with lesser hard labor. One can now make a lot at the comfort of their home legitimately, especially through creativity and many digital-oriented opportunities.

And that affects the reduction in our artisans because the young ones are not ready to take the time to learn a trade and grow with it. They are now majorly engaged in seeking fast wealth, which is possible legitimately through the aforementioned social and digital platforms.

May God continue to make life easy for us all, and may God bless us abundantly financially to enjoy our old age because it will require a lot of financial capacity. May we not get stranded later in life. The time is ticking…
