Market Leaders Praise SMATO’s Unforgettable History with N25m Empowerment Program

Odo Oba market leaders have praised Hon. Makanjuola Sunday, also known as SMATO, for his impactful empowerment programs, particularly for market women.

SMATO, representing Ogooluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency, recently empowered over 200 market women with ₦100,000 each to boost their businesses, totaling ₦25 million.

It should be recalled that in November last year, a two-day training workshop in fishery production was organized by the lawmaker in collaboration with the National Agricultural Development Fund as part of support for the people of Ogooluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency.

However, speaking with newsmen on Tuesday, a market leader in Odo Oba who simply identified herself as Apeke, confirmed the philanthropic gesture of Hon. SMATO, noting that the lawmaker has made an unforgettable history in the Ogooluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency with his series of empowerment programs worth millions of naira and good representation.

Other beneficiaries expressed gratitude for his exceptional leadership and life-changing interventions, noting his performance has surpassed his predecessor’s achievements regarding market women’s affairs.

Speaking similarly to reporters, Hon. Smato emphasised that the empowerment program is only the tip of the iceberg and that it is a component of his larger plan to improve productivity, generate employment, and strengthen families in the Ogooluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to putting women’s wellbeing first, citing them as important forces behind socioeconomic advancement.

He said: “Women are the backbone of our economy. They are essential to maintaining the health of their families and communities since they are moms, carers, and entrepreneurs. The empowerment program’s goals are to boost household earnings, assist their endeavours, and promote independence.

“We will keep putting policies into place that promote economic empowerment and raise our people’s standard of living.”

Given its extensive consumption and job-creation potential, the lawmaker emphasised the significance of fishery production as a vital component of the agricultural sector.

He encouraged the women to utilize the knowledge and grants effectively to maximize their productivity and profitability.

Smato, however, assured his constituents of continued initiatives that prioritize their welfare, economic empowerment, and sustainable development, whilst pledging to remain a competent and effective representative for Ogooluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency.
