Makinde’s Potential Candidacy: A Threat to APC Status Quo— Oyo PDP

The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has revealed its palpable fear of Governor Seyi Makinde’s potential emergence as the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2027 presidential election. Makinde’s governance record continues to shine across Nigeria, and his recent statement on his capacity to run for the highest office has sent shockwaves through the APC.

Makinde’s leadership style has been focused, people-oriented, strategic, and results-driven. He has excelled in infrastructure, education, healthcare, economic reforms, youth empowerment, and public sector innovation, positioning Oyo State as a model of good governance. The state has become a benchmark for effective leadership, earning Makinde multiple leadership awards.

In contrast, the APC-led federal government has struggled, plunging millions of Nigerians into poverty and discomfort. Nigerians are now calling on Makinde to rescue them from the current administration’s perceived tyranny and lack of vision.

The Oyo APC, however, remains ineffective, lacking leadership, direction, and voice. Instead of holding their president accountable, they attack Makinde, the only governor in the Southwest consistently delivering results.

A Seyi Makinde candidacy would expose the inadequacies of the Tinubu-led federal government and offer Nigerians an opportunity to escape the current administration’s perceived insensitivity. Meanwhile, the APC should address its internal crisis, as significant members and leaders are reportedly planning to join a new party.

The APC’s fear of Makinde’s potential candidacy stems from their understanding of his growing popularity and the impact it could have on their political fortunes. As the PDP Southwest Congress remains harmonious under Makinde’s leadership, the APC’s internal conflicts and lack of direction are starkly evident.
