Chief Imam of Ogbomoso land, Sheikh Yunus Toliat, has described the Deputy Governor of Oyo state, Barr. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, as a true Muslim, citing his enormous contributions toward the growth of Islam in Oyo state.
He stated this on Tuesday while breaking iftar at the Bashorun residence of the Deputy Governor, alongside Professor KK Oloso, Professor Ahmad, and other notable Muslim clerics in the state.
The Chief imam of Ogbomoso land, Yunus Toliat Ayilara, lauded the Deputy Governor for hosting iftar since the beginning of Ramadan, pointing out that Allah grants many rewards for such a gesture.
According to Toliat Ayilara, part of what would make people to be admitted into paradise is to be observing Solat, giving alms to the poor, and feeding souls in the month of Ramadan.
The chief imam also commended the Deputy Governor’s wife, Chief Ajibike Lawal, for treating people well regardless of age or title.
He exhorted Muslims to fear Allah and urged them to be more closer to him in prayer, noting that Ramadan is a month of blessings and forgiveness.
Dr Toliat equally charged the Muslims to continue with good deeds even after the period of Ramadan.
However, the Chief Imam praised the Deputy Governor for his efforts and support in advancing Islam in the state, especially in Ogbomoso, saying that he embodies what it is to be a true Muslim.
He prayed Allah continue to strengthen Barr. Lawal, and his boss, Seyi Makinde, to keep serving the good people of Oyo state.
In his appreciation, the Deputy Governor described Imam Toliat as a courageous preacher and brilliant individual while thanking him and other clerics for breaking iftar with him.
He reiterated his commitment to promoting Islam in the state and insisted that he would never conceal his religion.
He added that he was completely unconcerned with the opinions of others when the Governor picked him as his running mate in the 2023 election.
Despite his great belief in the value of education, Barr. Lawal praised Ogbomoso’s chief imam for his scholastic achievements, and pledged to continue to follow him.
He said: “I’ll keep following you in your journey and struggle for the cause of Islam.
“You have told us the purpose and essence of month of Ramadan. You were so brief and direct in your lecture. It was educative.
“We pray Allah accept this as an act of Iba’dah. And I thank you all for your presence.”
Among those present at the iftar were commissioner for Education, Science, Technology, Professor Soliu Adelabu, commissioner for Special Duties, Joke Sanni, Olorunsogo Chairman, Hon. Kazeem Olayanju and Chairman BCOS, Mrs Dotun Olaitan.
Others were Chairman Civil Service Commission, Alhaji Kamarudeen Aderibigbe; Special adviser on Establishment and Training, Otunba Siju Lawal, Babaloja general of Oyo state, YK Abass, UI don, Professor Fatai Adeniyi, Elder Adekola Adeoye, Staff of Housing corporation, several Islamic Groups, People with disabilities, and host of others.
