Rep Ojo Makanjuola greets Muslims on Eid-el-fitr, preaches love, tolerance, unity

Lawmaker representing Ogooluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency, Hon. Ojo Sunday Makanjuola (SMATO) has extended his warmest greetings and best wishes to Nigerian Muslims as they join their counterparts across the world in celebrating Eid-el-Fitr, which mark the conclusion of the Ramadan fast.

In his Sallah message, the lawmaker congratulated the Muslim Ummah on the successful completion of the fasting period, urging them to uphold Islamic virtues beyond the fasting season.

SMATO stresses harmonious coexistence, kindness and compassion, and collective responsibility in nation-building, urging unity against crime and discord.

According to him, the essence of Ramadan should inspire continued acts of kindness, tolerance, and compassion.

He stated: “It is important to consider the spiritual meaning of Ramadan and to preserve the admirable qualities of Islam outside of the fasting season.

“Regardless of our religious views, the many crimes that currently plague our society would be much diminished if we let the teachings of our faiths direct our behaviour, opening the door to a more tranquil and cohesive country.

Smato, the deputy chairman of the House Committee on Solid Minerals and the chairman of the House Committee on Friendship Group to Pakistan, emphasised the shared responsibility of all Nigerians in nation-building and added that no authentic faith supports criminal activity.

“As stakeholders in national development, we must come together to rid our society of criminal elements who use religion as a cover to commit evil and sow discord,” he added.
