PHOTOS: Abuja agog as LAUTECH alumni holds first Global Assembly 

Members of the Alumni Association of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, on Friday, stormed the City Villa of Abuja for its quarterly global meeting held at Wuse 5.

The meeting, which is the first of its kind since Alumni kickstarted in 2004, had in attendance representatives of several state chapters, including members of the mother’s chapter, Osun, Oyo, Ondo, Ekiti, Lagos, Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, Kwara, Kebbi, and Niger. 

The event began with a morning workout at Millenium Park in the Maitama area of Abuja on Saturday, in which both the current global president, Olalekan Badmu, and the former global president, Hon. Solomon Onilede, actively participated. 

Other notable alumni figures and functionaries present included Professor Azim Ige, the Global Secretary and current Dean of Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, the chairman of Mother’s chapter, Professor Remi Aworemi, Global treasurer, Dr. Niyi Basil Omodara, the chairman of Kwara state chapter; Hon. Teki Alawiye; Engr. Dr. Adeleke Steven, Engr. Dr. (Mrs) Sola Adeleke, the Chief Supretendent of Police, and Adesipe Abiodun, the chief host Abuja chapter. 

Also were Olayinka Oladipupo; Taiwo Tijani; Anu Rotimi; Ezekiel aka Muyiwa Original; Hassan Islamiyat; Dr Adeboje; Dr Oyewo; Mr Shittu; Lagos state chapter chairman, Mr Kilani; Dr Agboola Olugbemga; Mr Olagbemiro Olayemi; Chairman Bayelsa chapter, Mr Oladipo; Kebbi state Chairman, Mr Odunlami; PRO Oyo chapter, Mr Inaolaji Akinloye; Ex-global PRO, Dr Damilare, Dr Babalola Obasanjo, the current Global PRO of the alumni association, Prince Akeem Siyanbola, Folaranmi Awosika; and host of others. 

The Global Alumni quarterly assembly, which was previously held in Delta State, is an amazing occasion filled with mixed emotions and excitement.

Held in the K-class hotel, Wuse 5, Abuja, the meeting attracted a larger number of members and focused on crucial discussions and pressing concerns affecting the association and students on campus.

These included the issue of scholarship board and donations, secretariat report, security issues, transcript, students welfare, ongoing construction of global guest house donated by Babajide Bewaji; among others. 

However, in his brief remarks, Olalekan Badmus, the Global president, stated that the Alumni Association, which he leads, is dedicated to the well-being of its members and students, and that it would keep addressing issues that need to be addressed.
