Oyo Deputy Gov greets Muslims as Ramadan begins

Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barr. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, has congratulated Muslims for witnessing another season of Ramadan.

In a statement released on Friday, the Deputy Governor described Ramadan as the most glorious month in the Islamic calendar, adding that Ramadan fast is one of the five pillars of Islam that Muslims must strictly adhere to, in accordance with the Almighty Allah’s command.

He noted that Ramadan provides an opportunity to strengthen one’s relationship with Allah and become more obedient to his wishes.

He urged Muslims to use the period to pray for peace to reign in all the troubled spots in the country.

He equally urged them to use the Ramadan season to pray for peace and prosperity in Oyo State, especially in the holy month of Ramadan.

According to Barr. Lawal, the purpose of Ramadan is to promote equality among the faithful regardless of their social standing.

He said: “Ramadan is a special season in which Muslims who are of age and in good health abstain from food and drinks between sunrise and sunset for 29 or 30 days.

“Everyone is equal before Allah during Ramadan, as the rich experience the hunger that the poor endure.

In this sacred month, let’s endeavour to seek forgiveness, strengthen our connection with the Almighty God, and extend kindness to those in need.

The Deputy Governor, however, prayed that the holy month brings abundant blessings for the faithful.
