Oyo journalists honor Makinde, Deputy, Monsurah with award of excellence
Journalists in Oyo state on Monday honored the Governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde, with a prestigious award in recognition of his dedication to promoting journalism, freedom of expression, and the quest for truth.
The journalists equally rewarded the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barr. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal with an award of excellence for his humility, loyalty, and support in promoting journalism in the state.
The duo were honored alongside the former Speaker of Oyo state, Senator Monsurah Sumonu who was conferred with a trailblazer award for her recognition to humanity.
Several dignitaries attended the occasion at Iyangaku, including Amofin Beulah Adeoye, who received an award for excellence in community service.
While receiving the awards on behalf of himself and his boss, the Deputy Governor highlighted some of the achievements of the current administration under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde.
He stated that the Makinde government will continue to be guided by science, logic, and facts.
In his words: “The Oyo State government, led by Governor Seyi Makinde, has taken pride in stating that science, logic, and facts will guide our administration since 2019.
What are the actual facts? Our administration is concentrating on road reconstruction, as Amofin Beulah praised.
“The logic is also by ensuring that the roads wear new looks instead of patching by previous administrations. The road had already outlived their usefulness.
“Recently we also commissioned 11 kilowatt electricity, among other things being put in place by the current administration to better the lives of people of Oyo state.
“So, on behalf of His Excellency, Seyi Makinde, we say thank you for honoring us.”
The event was attended by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Seyi Makinde and host of others.
