Makinde attends 2024 Ede day, applauds Southwest Govs

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Saturday, joined his fellow counterpart, Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun state, at his home town, Ede, for the grand finale of  Ede Day 2024.

Represented by his deputy, Barr. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, the Governor was received at the Osun State Government House before they both attended the ceremony held at Ede Mega School, Osun state. 

The event was equally attended by notable dignitaries from home and abroad, including the wife of Dr. Deji Adeleke; the CEO of Matrix, Aliu Kabiru, Hon. Bamidele Salam, and lawmakers in the state, among others.

Also in attendance were royal father of the day, the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun, Larooye ll, and the newly Olujudo of Ido Osun, Oba Jokotola Olayinka Tunde as well as Alhaja Ramata Adisa, one of the most illustrious daughters of the Ede town, and other notable sons and daughters from across the globe.

The occasion featured fund raising of N5 billion for the development of the ancient town, which includes renovating the Ede town hall and proposed construction of a new town hall.

In his brief remarks, the Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barr. Lawal commended the spirit of unity among Southwest state governors while calling for more collaboration for the development of the zone. 

He assured that Ogun, Oyo and Lagos Governors from  the Southwest will also join in the fund raising of N5 billion for the development of the ancient town.

On the entourage of the Deputy Governor include Commissioner for Budget, Professor Musbahu Babatunde; Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Soliu Adelabu; Commissioner for Special Duties, Joke Sanni; Chairman Local Government Pension board, Ademola Ige, SA Administrative, Kunle Sanni; SA print media, Omolere Omoetan, Personal assistant to Oyo Deputy Governor, Adewale Mutalib, and host of others.
