Ibadan Stampede: Oke Legacy condoles with Oyo State Government, families of victims, commends Governor Makinde’s rapid response

Hon. John Adisa-Oke, Ph.D., has expressed deep sorrow and solidarity with the Oyo State Government, led by Governor Seyi Makinde, over the tragic stampede that occurred on Wednesday in the Bashorun area of Ibadan. The unfortunate incident, which claimed the lives of several children gathered for a carnival, has left the state in mourning.

The stampede, reportedly triggered by a rush to enter the event venue, resulted in multiple fatalities, leaving families devastated and the community in shock.

In his heartfelt message, Hon. Adisa-Oke conveyed her condolences to the bereaved families. He said: “I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives at the Bashorun stampede. My heart goes out to the families of the victims, and I pray that God grants them the strength to bear this irreparable loss.”

Hon. Adisa-Oke commended Governor Seyi Makinde for deploying a rapid response team to manage the aftermath of the disaster. She urged the state government to implement preventive measures to avoid a recurrence of such tragedies in the future.

The Bashorun stampede has sparked widespread calls for stricter event safety protocols and better crowd management strategies in Oyo State.
