History-Making: Rep Ojo Smato empowers over 200 market women with millions of naira across Ogo-oluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency

In a significant demonstration of his commitment to improving the welfare of his constituents, the Honourable Representative of Ogooluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency, Hon. Ojo Sunday Makanjuola (popularly known as SMATO) personally graced the empowerment program that started since 29th of November, where over 200 market women were gifted grants of one hundred thousand naira (₦100,000) each to boost their businesses. 

The event, which followed a successful two-day training workshop in fishery production organized in collaboration with the National Agricultural Development Fund, witnessed Hon. Smato addressing the beneficiaries and other stakeholders directly.

His presence added a personal touch to the empowerment initiative, further affirming his dedication to the economic growth and financial stability of the constituency.  

Speaking during the program, Hon. Smato emphasized that the empowerment initiative is part of his broader strategy to enhance productivity, create jobs, and uplift families in Ogooluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency.

He reiterated that his administration remains committed to prioritizing the welfare of women, whom he described as key drivers of socioeconomic development.  

“Women are the backbone of our economy. As mothers, carers, and business owners, they play vital roles in ensuring the well-being of their families and communities. This empowerment program is designed to support their efforts, improve household incomes, and encourage self-reliance. We will continue to implement initiatives that foster economic empowerment and uplift the standard of living of our people,” Hon. Smato stated.  

The lawmaker further underscored the importance of fishery production as a critical aspect of the agricultural sector, given its widespread consumption and potential to create employment opportunities. He encouraged the women to utilize the knowledge and grants effectively to maximize their productivity and profitability.  

Party leaders, traditional rulers, and other dignitaries from Ogooluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency were present to witness the event. The beneficiaries expressed their profound gratitude to Hon. Makanjuola Smato for his exceptional leadership and life-changing interventions.  

The federal lawmaker assured his constituents of continued initiatives that prioritize their welfare, economic empowerment, and sustainable development, pledging to remain a competent and effective representative for Ogooluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency.
