You’re a Serial Blackmailer, Extortionist – Lere Olayinka Slams Jackson Ude

Nigerian public commentator and politician Lere Olayinka has launched a scathing attack on Jackson Ude, describing him as a “serial blackmailer” and “extortionist.” This comes after Ude, who has been involved in several controversies over the years, allegedly faced legal sanctions in the United States.

In a post shared on social media, Olayinka called out Ude, labeling him a “self-appointed investigative journalist” known for spreading falsehoods. According to Olayinka, Ude was fined $10,000 by the District Court of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania for defamation-related issues. He criticized Ude for attempting to mask his actions under the guise of journalism while engaging in practices aimed at tarnishing reputations.

“For releasing this to the public last night, Jackson Ude is fuming,” Olayinka remarked, implying that Ude’s reaction revealed his frustration over the court judgment. Olayinka’s post was laced with humor and defiance, as he declared, “Let him start the war nah. Him never know say he has picked on a wrong customer.”

This is not the first time Ude has been embroiled in controversy.

In 2012, Ude’s Pointblanknews published a story accusing then Finance Minister Mrs Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala of purchasing N1.2 BILLION house at Maitama, Abuja, while Nigerians “were suffering under an administration she was a key player”. The former World Bank chief who is now Director-General of the World Trade Organisation sued for libel and won in 2018. The court awarded N200 million against Pointblanknews, its publisher.

Over the years, his sensational claims and allegations have often been met with skepticism, with critics accusing him of using his platform to blackmail and extort individuals, particularly in Nigeria’s political and business circles.
