Oriire Youths to Hold Stakeholders’ Summit on Development at Ikoyi-Ile

The Youth Volunteers for the Development Projects of Oriire State Constituency outfit code-named ‘Oriire Youth Council’, have announced plans for a first-of-its-kind and landmark Stakeholders’ Summit aimed at fostering development across the council area. The summit is scheduled to take place at the heart of the community in Ikoyi-Ile, bringing together key players from various sectors to deliberate on sustainable growth strategies.

The summit will convene youth representatives from the ten wards of the local government area, traditional rulers, political leaders from all available political parties in the council area, and religious leaders under one roof to chart a unified vision for the future of Oriire. This inclusive approach underscores the group’s commitment to collaboration and collective action as a means of addressing pressing developmental challenges.

Objectives of the summit according to the National Chairman of the Youths Sarafadeen Isiaka Owonikoko from Ikoyi-Ile ward 1, the summit seeks to promote unity and strengthen bonds among stakeholders for a harmonious working relationship as well as to address key challenges to further identify and proffer solutions to pressing issues torpedoing the development of the area such as poor education and economic system, unemployment rampage, infrastructure deficit, and the poor healthcare system.

In his statement, the youth representative at the second assembly of the Oyo State Youth Parliament – Joshua Ojo Akin from Kedo, ward 5, emphasized the importance of the summit in shaping the future of the community. “This event is a call to action for all stakeholders to come together, set aside differences, and focus on the collective progress of Oriire. Our shared vision is to create a thriving council area where every resident can achieve their potential,” he said.

Ajadi Isaac from Tewure ward 2 – the National PRO I of the youth highlighted some of the invited stakeholders within the council area to include but not limited to:

  1. Hon. Johnson Bamikole – Former Councillor Representing Ikoyi constituency of the defunct Oyo Local Government and later two times Honourable Commissioner in the State,
  2. Rt. Hon Gungu Ojo – Former Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly,
  3. Hon. Kayode Adekunle – a former MHR, representing the defunct Oriire Federal constituency,

In his address, Sanusi Olalekan from Tewure ward 2 – The National Secretary of the Youths said the event promises to feature keynote addresses from a vibrant and resourceful former Oriire Students’ Union National President – Comrade Yinusa Jamiu Olayinka who would do justice to the topic: “Role of Stakeholders in Community Development: a case study of Oriire Local Government”, interactive sessions between the stakeholders, and strategic planning workshops.

Announcing the date, venue, and time of the epoch-making event as Saturday, 21st of December 2024, Jegbe Town-hall and 9 am in respective order, Folasade Akanji from ward 10 Eleesun-Adeosun – the Vice Chairman 2 of the youths added that larger open congress of the entire Oriire Youths would be scheduled shortly after the Stakeholders’ summit.

For security consciousness of the event, the coordinator of the ward representatives who doubled as Chairman of the planning committee – Adetunji Jonathan from ward 8 while detailing the modalities of the event advised uninvited elements, especially hoodlums to steer clear of the venue vicinity as adequate security measures had been provided for, to maintain decorum and order. He concluded that brigands may dare the wrath of law by fomenting trouble at their own peril.

Temitayo Ogundare from Iluju ward 1 – Vice Chairman 1 of the youths added that “the summit is a testament to the community’s resolve to forge a path toward sustainable development, ensuring that Oriire bounces back and reclaims it’s lost glory and becomes beacon of progress in Ogbomosozone, Oyo State and Nigeria at large.”
