SMATO rounds off 4-day training and empowerment in Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency
In his commitment to the development and safety of the people in Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency, Hon. Ojo Sunday Makanjuola SMATO, on Friday, rounded off a cutting-edge training program on VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) application and mass awareness of satellite technology with a cash empowerment to eighty beneficiaries.
The forward-thinking initiative was aimed at equipping constituents with essential skills in the fields of security, disaster management, emergency response, remote sensing, television, and telecommunication.
The training program was designed to enhance the capacity of participants to utilize satellite technology for improving public safety, mitigating disaster risks, and providing effective emergency responses.
It will also contribute significantly to the development of telecommunication networks in the constituency and beyond.
Smato, who is the chairman of the House Committee on Friendship Group to Pakistan, and Deputy Chairman House Committee of Solid Minerals, emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating that technology is a critical tool in safeguarding lives and properties, particularly in a world where disasters and security challenges have become prevalent.
He said: “This training aims to empower our people with skills that will not only help us address local challenges like disaster management but also elevate our understanding of satellite-based solutions in various sectors. These skills will provide career opportunities and contribute to the larger national development.
“The participants have just received hands-on training on the application of VSAT technology, which is widely used for satellite-based communication in remote areas.
“They were also trained with the use of satellite technology in remote sensing for disaster monitoring and management, a crucial aspect of maintaining safety in the face of natural or human-made calamities.”
A statement by his media bureau indicated that the initiative reflects Hon. Makanjuola’s commitment to the welfare and advancement of his constituents. His focus on technological empowerment is expected to create job opportunities, foster innovation, and contribute to the socio-economic growth of the constituency.
In addition to the training, Hon. Makanjuola reiterated his resolve to ensure the overall infrastructural and economic development of Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency through a variety of programs aimed at youth empowerment, community development, and public safety.
He further maintained that the beneficiaries would receive start-up equipment, funding, and logistical support to enable them to earn a living.
The residents of the constituency have expressed their appreciation for the Honourable’s foresight and commitment, lauding the program as a much-needed intervention in preparing the youth for the future.
This program marked yet another milestone in Hon. Makanjuola’s series of initiatives that are transforming Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere into a model constituency in Nigeria.
