Oyo Reps’ member, Smato commissions classrooms, boreholes in Ogo-oluwa/Surulere Federal constituency
In fulfilment of his campaign promise to his constituents, the lawmaker representing Ogooluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency, Hon. Makanjuola SMATO has commissioned a block of six classrooms with furniture at Maya, Iresa ward in Surulere local government.
According to numerous speakers at the event, the building project facilitated by the lawmaker under the 2024 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Special Intervention project is the first of its kind facilitated by any elected lawmaker in the history of Ogooluwa/Surulere federal constituency.
The new project underscores Smato’s commitment to the development of education in his community.
Surulere Local Government residents enthusiastically welcomed Smato, the chairman of the House Committee on Friendship Group to Pakistan, and the deputy chairman of the House Committee on Solid Minerals, during the commissioning on Wednesday.
They rolled out drums to show their gratitude to their kinsman for fulfilling his pledge.
While speaking, the lawmaker thanked God for giving him the opportunity to fulfil his promise, noting that the building of the six classrooms is only the tip of the iceberg.
He declared that his goal is to address the issue of the area’s lack of an environment that is suitable to successful teaching and learning.
He equally underlined that, in addition to his current achievements in education development, more initiatives of a similar nature would be undertaken throughout the federal constituency.
Smato, who equally commissioned two boreholes in Iwoso – Mogele at Ilajue Ward in Surulere and Ile – Abu at Odo-Oba Ward 08 in Ogooluwa, however said that the projects underscores his commitment to improving the lives of his constituents with clean water.
He stated that the two projects are part of the larger water supply initiative he has been spearheading since taking office, aimed at improving living standards and alleviating the challenges of water scarcity that many communities in his constituency face.
The lawmaker added that the boreholes are a direct response to the growing demand for sustainable water infrastructure, especially in rural areas that have long been neglected by previous representatives.
In their appreciations, community leaders and PDP leaders in the Ogo-Oluwa Surulere commended Smato for improving the quality of life of his constituents.
They urged other well-meaning members of society to cultivate the idea of giving back to their communities.
This can be done through the adoption of schools, health care centres, and other projects that have a direct impact on the lives of the people.
These achievements further solidify Hon. Makanjuola’s standing as a leader who is not only responsive to the needs of his constituents but also proactive in implementing long-term infrastructure projects that promote health, economic development, and a better quality of life for all.
