Oluyole Club LAUTECH Attends CCII Week Grand Finale, Seeks Continuous Cooperation

The foremost indigenous club at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Oluyole Club, on Saturday, actively participated in the annual celebration of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII).

The CCII week grand finale, held in the brown-roofed city at the liberty stadium, had Ibadan indigenes and dignitaries from various walks of life in attendance, including the Oluyole Club, LAUTECH chapter, led by the President, Prof. Taofik Adedosu.

The event equally had in attendance the Governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde, the Oyo First Lady, Mrs Tamunominini Makinde and the Deputy Governor of Oyo state, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal who were among the awardees.

Addressing journalists at the event, Prof. Taofik Adedosu, President of the LAUTECH chapter, from the Department of Pure and Applied Chemistry and Director of the LAUTECH Centre for Research and Development, emphasized the significance of the annual program to the ancient city, adding that the event is historical and can be likened to Ojude Oba of Ijebuland.

“The program is a homecoming for all Ibadan indigenes, and it is an event that the indigenes eagerly anticipate to celebrate their culture. Just like Ojude Oba of Ijebu, our people and friends come from all over the world and from various walks of life to celebrate with us,” he said.

The emeritus professor noted that Oluyole Club at LAUTECH has raised the bar in terms of contributions to the development of LAUTECH and its members.

He also mentioned that many members who have held several key managerial positions at the institution have made indelible marks on LAUTECH’s developmental strides.

Among several other contributions, the president highlighted the association’s efforts toward supporting Ibadan indigene students through scholarships and job opportunities.

He added: “At LAUTECH, we’ve been providing scholarships to Ibadan indigent students, and for some of our students seeking jobs, we’ve created a database to have them readily available should job opportunities arise. We’ve also focused on the improvement of staff welfare.”

The president concluded by encouraging Ibadan indigenes who are workers to join the workforce of Ibadan Indigenes through Oluyole Club in a bid to advance the organization for the betterment of its historic city, Ibadan.

The Oluyole club LAUTECH, however congratulated both the First Lady, Mrs Tamunominini Makinde and the Deputy Governor, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal for their award describing it as a well deserved one.

The organization equally commended Governor Makinde for his continual support for the growth and development of LAUTECH and Oyo state praying that God continue to be with him in delivering dividends of democracy.

Members of the club at the event included the former Rector of Poly Ibadan, Professor Kazeem Adebiyi; Alhaji Bashir Akande; Engineer Oladipo Fawole; Associate Professor Ismail Abiodun Akinlabi; Mr. Maruf Odeniyi; Engr. Abel Akintola and Alhaji Wasiu Ganiyu.

Others were Dr. Adetunbi Saheed Ige; Alhaji Fola Bello Alhaji Dende Adelokun; Mr Abass Ajibade; Barrister Abass Kobiowu; Prof. Olatunde Fawole, Former Rector of Poly Ibadan Poly; Alhaji Wasiu Sanusi; Engr. Femi Akintola, Chief Adeniyi Adediran and host of others.
