Ona Ara needs total overhauling – LG Chairman, Glorious

The Executive Chairman of Ona Ara Local Government, Hon. (Dr.) Temitope Kolapo GLORIOUS’ has emphasized the need for investors to come down to Ona Ara to develop the local government area to an enabling position with its abundant landmark and natural reasources.

Disclosing this on Friday when he hosted pressmen to a media parley at the local government secretariat, the Chairman noted that Ona Ara need a total overhauling for development.

He highlighted the challenges he had overcome in his first month in office, saying that he had started cleaning up the environment to curtail the spread of cholera outbreak, already evacuated the refuse and waste from the Olorunsogo overhead bridge entrance of the local government, as well as drafting environmental law to guide against indiscriminate dumping of refuse.

According to the Chairman, this law will help the people to work on a close circuit area to be keeping their refuse as government continue to make further provision against dumping on the roadside.

He added that part of his achievements was the introduction of traffic management law which the legislative arm of government is currently working on.

Dr. Temitope Glorious, who hinted that he’s a man of few words but achievements, however emphasised the importance of getting the secretariat up and running, which has enabled him to regularly resume office, hold meetings with community, associations, among others, as well as putting staff on their toes for effective delivery.

The Chairman stated that part of the issues facing the local government were the lackadaisical attitude of individuals cleaning the secretariat until action was taken to stop their salary.

He added that there is an ongoing reconstruction of the council reception to have a global outlook as soon as possible.

Narrating how he facilitated the magistrate court’s return to Onaara from Iyaganku due to lack of maintenance, Hon. Glorious commended the Chief Judge of Oyo state, Justice Iyabo Yerima for her support, as well as Engr. Jubril Dotun Sanusi who equally volunteered to rebuild the court and now at the final stage of commissioning.

He added that about four magistrate courts would be commissioned as soon as possible which were part of his achievements in one month.

The chairman, who is similarly determined to transform Ona Ara local government into an estate, stated that Ona Ara will have a new look in a few months because he has worked to involve notable stakeholders, such as security agencies and traditional rulers, among others, to make sure the goal is realised.

He added that the local government is also making effort on downscaling of floods as he hosted NEMA and SEMA on Thursday to ensure that the people are safe during this raining season.

While the government is continuum, the chairman stated that he had inspected ongoing projects carried out by the local government, particularly the proposed market and would ensure its completion

He asserted that some ongoing road constructions by the state government are already completed as well as procuring materials for some communities which included a secondary school in Amuloko which is in need of a generator set.

“Our administration is keen on generating more revenues for the local government to ensure rapid growth and development within our 3 years in office”, he added.
