Agboworin: The Reflection Of Primal Leadership |By Isiaka Kehinde

He hits the political space like a cyclone. His emergence as a Nigerian lawmaker in the National Assembly bespeaks a square peg in a square hole and this is evidence by the quantum steps he has been taking to justify the mandate given to him by the people of South East and North East Constituency in Oyo state.

As an efficient lawmaker, Abass Agboworin has been making successful strides in bringing meaningful bills to the floor and he is regarded as one of the few  reticent members who talks less to curry favour but vocalise more with his actions in advancing pro poor bills that rank him among the most effective members in the  10th   Assembly.

The astute lawmaker, who is currently the Chairman, House Committee on Narcotic Drugs, has blazed an exemplary trail in the efforts to vitiate the effects of Narcotic Drugs and psychotropic substances in the society thereby discouraging and alleviating the illicit trafficking in the substance.

As a second timer in the house and a leader imbued with what Daniel Gòleman refers as ’emotional dimension of leadership’ he understands the emotional reality of drugs abuse in the Society and therefore move in the right direction to  mitigate the ugly trend.

The emotional intelligence has always been his strength. It was what made him excelled as a retired navy (Seabees), from US Nzvy, the feat which has prepared him for the task ahead.

It’s owing to this sterling qualities, large hearts and emotional intelligence of Rep. Agboworin that made him a staunch party man and chieftain of PDP in Oyo State, who doubles as the Special Adviser to the State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, Hon. Dare Adeleke, in what can be likened to a testimonial advert, said: “Rep. Agboworin is unparalleled and his constituency projects are second to none.” Truly, his mega empowerment and superlative sharing of dividends of democracy in his constituency will linger for a long time.

Hon Adeleke further stamps it “Rep. Abass Agboworin’s achievements are unprecedented in the annals of Representation in the State.”
