Excitement As Agboworin Visits Hometown, Flags Off Construction Of N1bn Kajola-Irede-Odinjo-Alake Road
As part of his ongoing efforts to support the development of the residents of the Ibadan North East/South East Federal Constituency, House of Reps member, Abass Adigun, also known as Agboworin, officially flagged off the 1.6 kilometre Kajola-Irede-Odinjo-Alake road on Friday.
The event, which was attended by several community leaders including members of Peoples Democratic Party, also had in attendance well wishers and members of other parties who commended the House of Reps member for being thoughtful about the development of his neighborhood.
Speaking at the event, Agboworin who mentioned that he grew up in the neighborhood and familiar with everyone, said that he had to return home from US after several years to contribute his own quota.
According to him, road construction is very important for development. Kajola-Irede-Odinjo-Alake Road was approved for construction following several months of lobbying in Abuja. Other roads in the federal constituency, including Felele, will also be constructed as soon as possible.
The lawmaker revealed that the road construction, which was awarded to Bamidele Engineering Nig. Ltd at a sum of One Billion Naira (1,000,000,000) for a completion period of three months, would curb the threat of gridlock that typically characterises vehicular movement on the road.
He noted that the project would bring about significant improvements to the community and enhance smooth connectivity within the area, reaffirming his commitment to the people to continue providing the constituency with high-quality infrastructure and representation for the duration of his term in office.
Agboworin emphasised that the construction would not only change the area but also improve the quality of life for those living around the axis, just as he acknowledged the critical role played by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abass Ph.D, in bringing the substantial road project to fruition.
He explained that the project was borne out of his commitment to always complement Governor Seyi Makinde’s efforts on infrastructural development and improving the socioeconomic activities of the state while reiterating his vows to fulfilling promises made during the electioneering period in different sectors, as well as noting the importance of infrastructure as the backbone of a thriving society.

While calling on the contractor to complete the project within the stipulated time of three months for the benefit of his constituents, Agboworin equally urged the community to cooperate fully with the contractor to ensure speedy completion.
The lawmaker insisted that, when running for office in 2019, he pledged to help market traders and artisans stressing that starting tomorrow, financial assistance would be provided to traders and artisans in the constituency, covering about 20 markets.
He however urged the people of his constituency to support all PDP chairmanship candidates and councillors in the forthcoming local government election for more dividends of democracy.
In his words: “I thank God today for this event, being the flag off of 1.6km road construction. I know that this project, which would benefit a lot of people within the community, is very important to us because it will reduce the traffic congestion from Olomi to Odinjo and Eleta.

“This project is for the community and for everyone. I am not embarking on it because I am a member of the People’s Democratic Party. No. As far as I am concerned, it will also be useful for other people from other parties.
“I want to also thank everyone who has supported us from the beginning to this moment because I have been on it for the past two years and, today, I thank God and those he has used to bring the project into fruition.
“By the time we are done within the space of three months, we will still invite everyone to join us in the commissioning of the project.”
A community leader identified as Mr Adekola, who also spoke at the event, appreciated the lawmaker for giving back to the community, saying “Agboworin remains a God-sent personality, who puts the interest of the people at heart in his dealings.”
Alhaji Basiru Alade Bamiduro, who is the Chairman of Irepodun Landlords Association at Odinjo area, equally expressed happiness at the development, calling for continuous support for the lawmaker.

“I became very happy when I heard our Federal Rep, Agboworin, wanted to construct this road for us. Since then, I have been praying for him because this will bring much relief to those of us living in this community. So, I pray that God will continue to help him to do more of us,” He stated.
The Project Manager, Usman Olawale, in his brief remark, noted that the quality of the road can be compared with the best in the country, assuring that the project would be done perfectly.
