Oyo NSCDC arrests 10 suspected illegal miners – Commandant
Oyo state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo state command, has arrested 10 suspects over offences bordering on illegal mining operations and criminal conspiracy in different locations in the state.
The state NSCDC Commandant, CC Augustine Padonu, made stated this in Ibadan Tuesday while parading the suspects at the command headquarters.
CC Padonu identified the arrested suspects as Adeoti Kolawole ‘M’ 61 , Oyedijo Idowu ‘M 19, Muritala Ismailia ‘M 39, Mohammed Muritala ‘M’ 40, Ayuba ismaila ‘M’ 33, Sunday Ayoola , ‘M 49, Adeleke Sunday ‘M 42, Olamide Ajibola, ‘M’ 34, Adeyemo Abbas’s ‘M’ 39 and Numideen Aliu ‘M’ 35years.
The commandant said Adeoti Kolawole ‘M’ 61, the leader of a group of suspects carrying out illegal exploration and mining of Tourmaline minerals; Oyedijo Idowu ‘M’ 19 ,a generator repairer; Muritala ‘M’ 40, a labourer and Ayuba Ismaila ‘M’ 33 (also a labourer), were arrested on 17th February 2024 at about 0800hrs.
He added that the suspects were arrested for illegally exploring and mining solid minerals suspected to be Tourmaline without licence at Elese Erin village, Ona Ara local government, Oyo state.
He added that other suspects Sunday Ayoola ‘M’ 49( Owner of the product) , Adeleke Sunday’M’ 42 (Drivers) Olamide Ajibola ‘M’ 34 (Driver), Adeyemo Abbas ‘M’ ( Driver) and Numideen Abbas ‘M’ 35 ( Driver) were arrested for allegedly dealing in illegal possession and purchase of Lithium minerals at Ipapo town , Itesiwaju local government area of the state without license to purchase and to possess the products.
