Oyo Gov’t pays condolence visit to Olayiwola, Ogunjimi families, says death painful

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Monday, commiserated with family and chiefs of Eruwa community over the death of Hon. Gabriel Ayinla Olayiwola as well as the family of Chief S.O Ogunjimi (JP), also known as Onile Aruru of Igboora, describing their death as painful.

The state delegation, led by the Deputy Governor, Barr Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, made a stop at Chief Olayiwola’s home in Eruwa to offer their condolences while traveling to Igan-igan on an official assignment,

Barr. Lawal stated that it’s critical to leave a lasting legacy, pointing out that the high chief was a well-known politician, a major figure in the People’s Democratic Party, and an ardent supporter of the Makinde-led administration.

While also describing the death of Lai Baale as shocking, the Deputy Governor hinted that His Excellency, Seyi Makinde, had already penned down the deceased’s name for an appointment before learning of his passing during the Exco meeting.

He thanked the Baales and Asiwaju for supporting the family through out the difficult time, adding that their efforts were much appreciated.

“Death is inevitable. I am praying that God will give everyone us the grace to live long on earth and pray he will give the family of the deceased the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.”

In his condolence message, the chairman of Elders Council, Dr Saka Balogun, stated that death is inevitable, asking God to grant the family the strength to cope with the irreplaceable loss.

On behalf of the family, Omobobola Emmanuel Olayiwola, the deceased’s elderly son, however expressed gratitude to the Governor for the condolence visit.

Similarly, the Deputy Governor also visited the family of Chief S.O. Ogunjimi (JP), also known as Onile Aruru, at his residence in Ayete.

In his remarks, the chairman of the Civil Service Commission, Alhaji Kamorudeen Aderbigbe, described Baba Ogunjimi as a good member of the commission and mentioned that Governor Seyi Makinde was very saddened by his death.

He prayed that God would grant the chiefs of the Ayete community and the deceased’s family the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.

However, Barrister Ayorinde Oyelese, the Chairman of the Advisory Council, said that Governor Makinde had asked the Deputy Governor to represent him during the condolence visit and that Ogunjimi was a good man.

While urging the departed children to take excellent care of their mother and praying that God will be with them and give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, he acknowledged that the stupor of death is real praying that God would grant everyone the grace to live long and in good health.

Speaking on behalf of the family, one of the deceased’s children, Foluke Ogunjimi, thanked God for their father’s well-lived life and added that her father was active and passionate about the member of Peoples Democratic Party and was so good with the entire family members.

She also expressed her gratitude to the Deputy Governor’s powerful delegation for the condolence visit disclosing that their father’s final burial will be held on May 11–13, 2024, in honor of his departed soul.

The Deputy Governor, Barrister Lawal, however commiserated with the family and mentioned that the Governor had sent a strong delegation from Oyo State on a condolence visit.

He added that the dead had led a decent life and that everyone should be thankful to God for the full life he had.

The Deputy Governor equally prayed that God would give the wife and children the strength to bear the incomparable burden, assuring that the government would never forget the deceased’s unwavering efforts and his work towards the development of PDP and the current administration.

He urged the chairman of the local government to liaise with the family on how to give a befitting burial to the departed soul.

“On behalf of His Excellency, Seyi Makinde, I commiserate with you. I pray God will be with the entire family members and also grant the departed soul eternal rest. So, protect the good legacy Baba Ogunjimi left behind,” he said.

On the entourage of the Deputy Governor include the Former Deputy Governor of Oyo state, Engr. Hamid Gbadamosi; the Chairman of Elders Council, Dr. Saka Balogun; Chairman of Advisory Council, Wole Oyelese, Arole Iba Oluyole, Nureni Akanbi; Deputy Chief of Staff, Folajimi Oyekunle and Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Wasilat Adegoke; Baba Sunday Ogunlade and Chief Jacob Adetoro.

Others were Federal House of Representatives member, Dr Adepoju Ibarapa Kan; Former House of Representatives member and Chairman Library Board, Yemi Taiwo; Member Hajj Commission, JS Amodu as well as other government functionaries.
