Ahead of the 2024 Oyo LG Election, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Irepo LG, on Friday, received defectors from opposition parties during its first General Meeting held at Ojude-Oba Kishi.

The defectors were from All Progressives Congress (APC) led by Hon. Jimoh Badmos Ayinla (Babulukudi) camp and Hon. Adedokun Ajadi a.k.a Labike-led team whilst other defectors were NNPP members who officially announced their defection into the party.

While speaking, Hon. Odejide Ismail, the Party Chairman of Irepo LG, thanked the party faithful for their unwavering support, adding that PDP has greatly benefited the Kishi Community.

He said: “We never have a Deputy Governor in the history of this community, coupled with Commissioner for Education, Science & Technology, as well as Special Assistants to DG, Member of Oyo Hajj Commission and many others until the emergence of the current administration.”

In their separate remarks, the three Deputy Governor’s aides from the local government, Hon. Ogede Ayinde, Hon. Yusuf Ajagbe and Hon. Badmus Adesola, noted that PDP is the most acceptable party in the state currently.

While urging the PDP members and defectors to work for the success of the party in the forthcoming local government election, they hinted that no Kishian should be left in other political parties than PDP with the good governance of Governor Seyi Makinde and how his administration has greatly favored Kishi community.

The chairman of the local government, Hon. Pastor Joel Oyetunji, however said that the upcoming election is a God-sealed agenda.

He commended the campaign council led by Hon. Prince Rasaq Jelil Adewale and stated that he is prepared to fully lend his commitment and support to the successful emergence of all the party’s candidates.
