Oyo Lawmaker, SMATO empowers over 150 constituents, commissions 4 motorized boreholes

Constituents from Ogooluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency have benefited from the multimillion-naira empowerment program organized by Hon. Ojo Sunday Makanjuola popularly known as Smato, a member of the Federal House of Representatives.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker, on Saturday distributed empowerment items including generators, and freezers among others to alleviate poverty in his constituency.

The empowerment program which is mainly for women and youth as well as PDP members across the constituency, also had in attendance party stakeholders and religious and community leaders who commended Hon. SMATO for his consideration in easing his constituents’ suffering.

Speaking after the empowerment program, SMATO explained that the materials provided to over 150 recipients to mark his 100 days in office were based on the needs gaps that had been found in his constituency to generate wealth.

While maintaining that empowering his constituents and people generally gives him joy, especially as he has enjoyed unflinching support from them since the 2023 general election, he added that the empowerment program is just the tip of the iceberg as more would be done to alleviate poverty in his constituency.

SMATO, who is the chairman House Committee on Friendship Group Pakistan and Deputy chairman House Committee of Solid Minerals at the 10th assembly, reiterated that as a representative of the people, he will not rest on his oars, in addressing the needs of his constituency.

Ayegun Yemetu village in Opete ward, Ogo-Oluwa Local Government, Otamokun village at Otamokun ward, Ogo-Oluwa Local Government, Onikoko village at Iresapa ward, Surulere Local Government, and Atapa village at Iresadu ward, Surule Local Government are among the four borehole projects that the lawmaker also commissioned during the empowerment event.

A few of the recipients who spoke with our correspondent expressed gratitude to the lawmaker for the gesture and promised their unalloyed support.

In addition to urging all recipients to utilize the empowerment resources to the fullest, Hon. Ojo Sunday Makanjuola pledged to uphold his commitment to the people of the Ogooluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency by offering more social amenities.
