LAUTECH alumni worldwide elects new president, other global executives
MOUTHPIECE NGR reports that the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology’s Alumni Association Worldwide has elected new members of the association’s executive.
The members, who at their triennial congress, dissolved the administration of Hon. Solomon Onilede, elected Engineer Olalekan Badmus, a former Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Duties in Osun State, as its Global President.
Until his election as Global President, Engineer Olalekan Abdul-Rahaman Badmus, was the Global Deputy President of the association, a position he held for two years.
While delivering his acceptance speech, the newly elected global president reiterated his commitment to delivering a world-class alumni association that would be run in compliance with global best practices.

According to Engr. Badmus, “It is my commitment to bridge the gap between generations and foster a united family. We will work towards these following programs and initiatives that further improve our members’ welfare, ensuring that their interests are adequately and promptly addressed:
“Members Welfare: Top of our agenda shall be total and genuine support to our members in the various field of endeavor. In the last few years, LAUTECH products all over the world have proven themselves both in the private and public sectors in the society. We now have several captains of industries, CEOs, technocrats of note and refined politicians. If elected as the president, I shall serve as bridge between generations of alumna and alumnae so as to foster a united family and association.
“Continuity of Existing projects: Let me state without mincing words that all ongoing projects shall be looked into and same completed. We shall think inwardly and generate funds to actualize our dreams.
“Embracing technology: In today’s digital age, utilizing technology can greatly enhance our alumni association’s reach and engagement. We are going to create a user-friendly website and social media pages to provide information, updates, and opportunities for alumni to connect and collaborate. Consideration of using platforms like LinkedIn, Facebook Groups, or dedicated alumni networking apps is also in mind.

“Organizing impactful events: We would be organizing diverse range of events that cater to different interests and demographics. This could include professional development workshops, networking meet-ups, social gatherings, sporting events, or even virtual webinars. Collaborate with local businesses and organizations to offer exclusive benefits or discounts to our alumni members. This will, in a way, establish mentorship initiatives that connect experienced alumni with recent graduates or younger members. Also, this can provide valuable guidance, career advice, and networking opportunities. Consideration of organizing mentorship workshops or creating an online mentorship platform to facilitate these connections is right in mind.
“Recognizing achievements: Celebrating the accomplishments of alumni members through awards, newsletters, or spotlights on our website and social media channels will also be given priority. Highlighting their achievements will not only strengthen their connection to the association but also inspire others to get involved.
“Establishing affinity groups: This leadership would create affinity groups based on specific interests, professions, or geographic locations. This will allow alumni to connect with others who share common interests and experiences, fostering a sense of community and encouraging participation.
“Enhancing communication channels: We would ensure that we have clear and effective communication channels in place. Regularly, we would send out of newsletters, email updates, and social media posts to keep alumni informed about upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and the association’s achievements.”
One of the notable alumnus of the school, Hon. Shina Peller, remarked that the candidacy of Engr. Badmus was what the association needed to consolidate on the successes recorded during the past administration.

He stated this recently at the Alumni Building in Ogbomoso where members of the school’s alumni gathered for the exercise that produced Engineer Olalekan Badmus.
