Jagunmolu of Ondo Kigdom: This honor is a clear demonstration of your leadership prowess— Oyo Hajj board chairman hails Gov. Makinde

Chairman of the Oyo State Pilgrims Board (Muslim Wing), Alhaji Hashim Atere has has congratulated the Oyo State governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, on his installation as the Jagunmolu of Ondo Kingdom.

Ateere, who described the honour bestowed on Governor Makinde, by the esteemed Osemawe of Ondo kingdom, Oba Dr. Victor Adesimbo Kiladejo as well deserved, added that the honor was a clear demonstration of his leadership prowess in Yorubaland.

In his congratulatory message made available to newsmen in Ibadan on Saturday, the chairman noted that the chieftaicy title conferred on the governor is as a result of the governor’s proven track record of sound government and his practical approach to development, particularly in Southwest.

According to him, the recognition should be a source of pride for the people of Oyo State since it shows the Governor’s exceptional contributions to the advancement of the Yoruba race.

The scholar with training from Saudi Arabia, however said it was also touching to witness Makinde’s skillful delivery of the Osemawe’s 70th birthday celebration speech, which focused on the traditional institution’s role in socioeconomic development.

While insisting that the government should look to the conventional institution to overcome many of the obstacles the country has, he acknowledged that the Governor’s ability as a leader and his enthusiasm for development were what led to his recognition outside Oyo state by the Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom.

He said: “I celebrate the installation of my principal and amiable Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Seyi Makinde, FNSE, as the Jagunmolu of Ondo Kingdom on Friday, November 10, 2023, by the Osemawe of Ondo, Oba Dr. Victor Adesimbo Kiladejo, Jilo III.

“Many of us have found hope in His Excellency’s history of sound leadership and effective administration in Oyo State, and this chieftaincy, along with many other honours, is a testament to his exceptional contributions to the advancement of the Yoruba race.

“As a Christian, he has remained to be an inspiration to us and has demonstrated excellent leadership to Muslims as well as other religious beliefs.

“His administration has unified various ethnic groups in the state following his uncommon people- oriented projects acroos the length and breath of the state and coupled with his pragmatic approach to development which have all earned him such a befitting recognition outside Oyo state.

“This honour, indeed, is not only for my dear Governor, but for the entire people of Oyo State.
