Despite two serving lawmakers, Kishi still in blackout
Why dragging the deputy gov we voted against in 2023?
We, the residents of Irepo local government are the most ungrateful in the history of Oyo state by turning against a government that cared so much about us. And despite electing two candidates of the All Progressives Congress in the 2023 general elections, my community is still experiencing total blackout. But we tends to be blaming the deputy governor who we wickedly voted against in the 2023 general election. How soon we’ve forgotten how we all conspired against Governor Seyi Makinde despite choosing our son as his running mate for his re-election?
It has been said that the elites, who supposed to be the ones to find a solution, are actually making matters worse and losing touch with reality in the process. They weren’t able to think clearly enough to see what our town’s true problems were.
Mr. Wele, who was chosen to serve as the current House of Assembly member for the state constituency of Irepo/Olorunsogo, is a well known oil magnate who owns several filling stations across the town. And ever since the blackout, he has benefitted hugely from the unsuspecting Irepo local government residents who supported him in the last election. The house of assembly lawmaker has not only constructed numerous houses but purchased a number of exotic vehicles within the period of the ongoing blackout. Do we think that person would ever be happy to see that the town’s electricity is restored? Instead, he would trick us into thinking he was donating N100,000 to get the electricity back on while stylishly reaping us. Tell me, who is the most gullible on earth if not my people, the kishians.
Yes, we are the most ungrateful people in Oyo State’s history, and we appear to be the most easily duped by materialistic things on earth, especially during electioneering period. If we are not deceived along religious line, then with a few handout, tagged empowerment. We could easily fall into the trap set by Muhomoda, our federal lawmaker, who had claimed to have cleared off our electricity debts in Ilorin but afterwards proved to be lying. However, it is surprising that the deputy governor we worked against in the 2023 general election, was the one we were dragging online rather than our lawmakers.
So, are we expecting the deputy governor we voted against in the election to come to our rescue now despite calling him several names? Are we really that low to fail to understand that a state’s deputy governor has a more important role to play in a society than a federal lawmaker or assembly lawmaker? So, having voted wickedly against the deputy governor in the 2023 election, we can now seek his influence? I can see we are starting to reap the benefits of our dishonest actions during the governorship election.
If my memory serves me correctly, the deputy governor donated a whopping sum of N500,000 to the municipality in order to repair some poles and ensure that power was restored months before the 2023 general election. As an online media guru who needs to constantly keep tab to his phones and laptop, I enjoyed visiting my town (Kishi) prior to the election since the electricity was so consistent. However, the kindness shown by the deputy governor and his various improvements to the community could only be repaid by the wickedness of voters in the governorship election. We are now reaping the benefits of our nefarious actions.
Isn’t it time to ask our federal lawmaker and the house of assembly to help us rather than dragging the deputy governor on social media? The same Bayo Lawal and his principal, Seyi Makinde, who we loathed so much, gave us a commissioner for education, car loans, OYSROMA zonal headquarters, Tescom office which is due for commissioning, built our roads around the main market and mosque, and also built a road to the town hall from Iba’s market, among other things that cannot be compared to our lawmaker, muhomoda’s distribution of motorcycles to some selected thugs.
The governor and his deputy are not paying evil with evil. They are there to serve, and I doubt that we have ever had a governor as zealous and concerned about the people’s needs as Makinde’s leadership in Irepo local government.
Maybe I’ll keep writing to keep our so-called elites and educated youths informed. I make no apologies.
