PHOTOS: Jonathan hosts Oyo Deputy Gov in Bayelsa

Former President Goodluck Jonathan hosted the Oyo deputy governor, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal at his residence in Yenagoa ,Bayelsa state, on Thursday.

The deputy governor, who arrived Bayelsa on Wednesday to represent his principal, Governor Seyi Makinde, to participate at the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation Annual Democracy Dialogue with the theme “Breaking New Grounds in the Democracy-Development Nexus in Africa,” was warmly received by the former president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience Jonathan at their residence in Yenegoa.

He was also joined by other Oyo top government functionaries, including his Special assistant on administration, Alhaji Kunle Sanni.

On behalf of Governor Seyi Makinde, the deputy governor thanked the former president for the cordial welcome and praised him for his support of democracy in Nigeria.

He added that the Governor’s involvement in the dialogue had undoubtedly improved the discussions and helped establish a clear connection between democracy and development in Africa.

The deputy governor praised the former president’s leadership skills as well as his attempts to bring about peace in Nigeria.

He also said he was proud of the former president’s persistence in pursuing a united Nigeria and his extraordinary ascent up the political ladder in Nigeria.

He prays that the Almighty God will grant Dr Jonathan and his wife longer life, good health and more wisdom to keep serving the nation and humanity.
