Muslim women not forbidden from going into technology, says Wife of Oyo deputy gov, Ajibola Lawal
The wife of Oyo deputy governor, Chief (Mrs) Ajibike Ajibola Lawal, has urged Muslim women to utilise technology, saying that it is now the focus of the world.
Mrs Lawal, who spoke extensively on the importance of information technology and how it impacts Muslim women, added that Muslim women are not forbidden from going into technology as the world is en-vogue with technology.
She made these statements on Saturday at the 4th Biennial Women’s Conference Oyo Zone 1, themed, Technology Advancement & Muslim Women held at Ilaji Hotels and Resort Akanran, Ibadan.

According to her, women may start transacting their businesses from the comfort of their homes and advertise them on social media with the aid of technology.
Mrs. Lawal emphasised that Niqabite sisters could start their business even without leaving their homes or opening up shop outside before they could begin their businesses, while also stating that knowledge is power and that with it, a female could positively affect her immediate environment when she is technologically savvy.
She argued that marriage shouldn’t be permitted to deny women their legal rights and added that doing business whenever they want is a part of their rights as the prophet Muhammad never preached against it.

“If you don’t want her to go out, she can do some businesses online. She need to get some Apps and know about technology to do businesses and they must not also be denied of their right.
“Islam preaches peace and everyone need to emulate prophet Muhammad. Muslims must be able to live with love, peace and harmony.”
The wife of the deputy governor concluded that women need to imbibe knowledge because knowledge is power, advising parents to always be close to their children and aware of what they are doing in order to limit the negative effects of social media.
