Makinde commissions Ultra-modern farmers’s market complex & market’s central mosque in Akinyele 

As part of his efforts to boost the economic development of the people of Akinleye local government, the governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde, on Monday, officially commissioned ultra- Modern Farmer’s Market Complex and the Market’s Central Mosque in Akinyele local government. 

The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Barrister Abdul Raheem Adebayo Lawal, said that the newly commissioned markets started since Omitutun 1.0 while appreciating God for the commissioning of the project in Omitutun 2.0. 

He added that the markets is for the exchange of agricultural products cautioning that other activities are not permitted for trading.  

According to him, the market will be the third to be built and set up in the Akinyele local government and it is solely for traders and farmers, not for mechanic shops or other business than farm products. 

While keeping the road in good condition is crucial for the market to thrive, Lawal promised that Governor Makinde will also make the road market very easy for customers to reach. 

He stressed that Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration will not stop doing what is right, advising on perimeter fencing to be able to strengthen the market’s security. 

The deputy governor emphasized that Akinyele local government also served as a railway hub, pointing out that Oyo state government has acquired a significant amount of land to enable the creation of a new town from Akinyele local government. 

He tasked the marketers to keep the market clean at all times and gave the local government chairman and lcda chairman as well as the community leaders the responsibility of doing the same. 

He equally stressed on the need for peace in the market while stating that it serves a variety of tribes in addition to Yoruba and Hausa, since Nigeria is a circular country. He urged the marketers to make sure that they uphold peace in the market and ensure that everyone live with love. 

Lawal reaffirmed that the government is doing everything in its power to ensure that store allocation happens as quickly as possible and said that the local government system would be taken into consideration while allocating stores. 

Later, he expressed his gratitude to the residents of the Akinyele local government for their overwhelming support of governor Seyi Makinde in the election of 2023 and prayed that God would enable them to reap the rewards. 

“Akinyele local government is very large in-terms of land size and population. You all have a duty to do. Both the royal fathers and the marketers have a lot of work to do. Pls ensure the place is well maintained. 

“On behalf of Governor Seyi Makinde, We are hopeful that the market will boost and we are happy to commission the project”, he said.
