Oyo deputy gov inspects Kulodi-0, says Ajoda project will be an ‘Iconic Estate’ upon road network completion

The deputy governor of Oyo state, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal on Saturday conducted an inspection on ongoing road construction at the Ajoda Omitutun project being constructed by the Oyo State Housing Corporation.

Lawal, who trekked from the beginning of Kulodi-0 road, covering about 2km down to its end, expressed his satisfaction with the level of work done particularly the drainage and art work ongoing in which after completion, the road would be tarred.

The deputy governor who had earlier inspected both 1.82km and 5.55km drainage and art work which were already completed, however, said the tarring of the 5.55km road have already commenced.

He noted that the Ajoda new town development scheme was conceived in 1976. But regretted that there has not been any meaningful development by successive administration until inception of Makinde’s led administration.

Lawal stated that the first thing the government did was to put infrastructure in place. For that reason, they awarded a contract for the construction of a 1.82 kilometer road and a service road of 5.55 kilometers of road wherein plots of land will be carved out for allottees.

He disclosed that another estate, known as Omitutun estate, has already been carved out within Ajoda, in which it has already been fenced, as well as provisions for road drainage and installation of electricity pole.

Lawal, who until his appointment as the deputy governor of Oyo state was the chairman of Housing Corporation, visited the Ajoda estate with the corporation’s acting general manager, Mr. O.T. Kayode, to see the level of completion of the work done so far.

He stressed that the 1.82 kilometer, 9 meter wide road, which serves as the estate’s main trunk road, has been completed, and the internal road’s earth work for the estate’s 5.55 kilometer service road will soon be competed.

While noting that the asphalt on Kulodi-0 would be done soon as the drainage is already ongoing, Lawal stressed that monies expended on the projects embarked upon so far by the housing corporation has been through Internally Generated Revenue(IGR).

He added that the estate at completion will compliment the infrastructural developments of the present administration positively as well as lessen the housing pressure at the city centre.
