2023: Wife of Oyo Deputy Gov commends Ibadan KPU for adopting Makinde, PDP Reps candidate IJABAH

The wife of Oyo Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Ajibola lawal has commended members of Kishi Progressive Union (KPU), Ibadan branch for adopting the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, who is seeking for a second term in office with the son of the soil, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as its gubernatorial candidate at the forthcoming general elections.

Lawal, who was greeted as “double Excellency” when she arrived at the home of the Association’s president, Professor Abdul Fatai, in Bodija, Ibadan, on Sunday, also applauded the branch’s decision to support Hon. Hussein Ijabah, the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate for the House of Representatives as its preferred candidate.

While addressing the association with over 200 registered members in Ibadan, the wife of the deputy governor stated that if not for the unexpected passing of Alhaji Arimiyahu, a fervent supporter of Seyi Bayo 2023, the deputy governor would have attended the meeting, but had to travel to Kishi for the 3rd day prayer of the Imam.

Mrs Lawal who thanked KPU for resolving to work hard and mobilize for Governor Seyi Makinde’s re-election bid as well as Hon. Hussein Ijabah, noted that their victory would have a positive impact on their children and future of Irepo local government.

According to her, just like Bayo Lawal used to say, his politics are not motivated by selfish interest but rather anything that will advance Kishi Town’s development and benefit the people in general, for whom he is willing to make sacrifices.

“Like the way you all have gathered here to support him on this project, I pray that God will make it possible and we are ready to also join hands together for the benefit of our children.

She urged the memebers of the association to engage in serious campaign and also make calls to people in the town to support Governor Makinde’s re-election and Hussein Ijabah and make sure that their PVC is intact and they should all troop out en-mass on the day of election.

“We have all seen what is on the ground, and I pray that we will all benefit from politics. Right now, Kishi town is really benefiting from this government, not that we really worked for the party, but it’s God that favored us. As such, we must not reward good deeds with evil.

“During the interfaith annual prayer in Government House, a Muslim cleric and a pastor said that we should reward good deeds because most people know that this government has really done well for Oyo state.

“So, let’s us consider individualism, we should consider individuals in each party, if we say, YES party is very relevant, we need to be concerned about who is in the party. Who is protecting our interest, and is the person’s government benefiting us? That’s what we need to look up to and reward back with good deeds.

Mrs Lawal encouraged them to vote and replicate the good deeds Seyi Makinde has done for the community.

She also appealed to them to talk to their children not to cause any fight but rather to vote and maintain peace praying that there won’t be violence in any part of Oyo state.

Earlier in his remarks, the KPU president, Ibadan branch, Professor Abdul Fatai, stated that the meeting was the first of its kind in 2023 and that it was imperative to hold it because the general election is quickly approaching.

He added that the coming election is the major reason for the meeting, urging everyone to work together and also canvass for votes to win with a wide margin.

Similarly, Hon. SG Ayoola, Hon. Adams among other members also lent their voices on strategies to make the two preferred candidates win with a wide margin and the importance of having both the deputy governor and the House of Reps members from the same party for the development of Kishi community.
