Man docked for allegedly stealing 2 phones from a Mosque

A 33-year-old man, Asafa Isiaka, was on Monday docked in an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing two cell phones from a Mosque.

The Prosecution Counsel, ASP Emmanuel Abdullahi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Dec 6, 2022 around 05:00 am at Ita-kogun Central Mosque, Ile-Ife.

Abdullahi said that the defendant entered the Ita-kogun Central Mosque and stole two cell phones worth N200,000, property of Mr Sulaiman Ganiyu.

He added that the offence contravened section 415 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The defendant, who was not legally represented, pleaded not guilty to one-count charge: stealing.

Magistrate A.O. Famuyide admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N250,000 with one surety in like sum.

Famuyide ordered that the surety must swear to affidavit of means and must a land owner.
The case was adjourned until Dec 12, for hearing.
