Excitement as ONIJO reconstructs Saki community culvert

The newly appointed Chairman of the governing council, The Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki, Barr. Sarafadeen Onijo has been extolled to the high heaven as he reconstructed major culvert for his community.

The culvert located at Ward 7, Saki-West Local Government had been decrepited over some time owing largely to negligence and bad usage.

In an interview with ITV which was monitored by Mouthpiece NGR correspondent, Barr. Onijo stated the rationale behind the intervention, which he described as personal civic responsibility.

“As a matter of fact, I see this intervention as part of my civic responsibility because understandably, government cannot do everything and it’s always behove on us, as people or individual, to carry out projects within our capability to support government.

When asked if he had received any financial support from perhaps government to carry out the intervention, he said: “We had similar experience some two to three years ago, it was a total collapse and I had the privilege of reconstructing the bridge. Mind you, I wasn’t Chairman of Governing Council then. So, similarly, I’m doing this out of my own expenses.

“For the records, I’ve not done this because I had received any financial support or expecting same, I’m dojng this for my community, for God and for the benefit of humanity.

Onijo enjoined well-meaning people, regardless of political affiliations to always make it a point of responsibility to carry out like interventions in their respective immediate communities.

“First, I want to implore our people to not always wait for government as similar things could be done within their capability. In addition, we should always do things in line with laid down rules of government of the day, including social responsibilities.

The Chairman, however, commended Makinde-led government for his listening ears, adding that his continuity bid is sacrosanct and non negotiable.
