Why Aregbesola, Osinbajo shun Osun APC mega rally
Feelers have continued to wonder why Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Rauf Aregbesola were conspicuously missing at the Osun All Progressives Congress guber rally yesterday.
MOUTHPIECE NGR spotted no fewer than 10 governors and other party stalwarts in Osogbo on Tuesday for the mega rally.
It was gathered that the vice president despite being listed as a guest speaker was not on ground at the rally.
The Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola who is at political loggerhead with the state Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola seeking re-election was also absent.
When contacted, Sola Fasure, the media aide to Aregbesola, said his boss was not invited for the event, and the minister was attending an official event in Lagos on Tuesday.
Our correspondent observes that Osinbajo’s defeat in the primary might have created a wedge between him and some of the party’s leaders.
Some of the Governors in attendance include: Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo, Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti, Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi, Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna, Abdulrahaman Abudulrasak of Kwara, Hope Uzodinma of Imo, Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, and Prof. Babagana Zulum of Borno State.
Also in attendance were; a former APC national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole; the 2023 APC presidential flagbearer, Bola Tinubu and his running mate, Kashim Shettima.
