Ex-Ajimobi’s aides, Afenifere, others visit Oyo Deputy Governor, Bayo Lawal, hail Makinde
A pressure political group, Progressives Network Alliance in Oyo state, has pledged its support to the newly sworn in Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Abdul Roheem Adebayo Lawal.
The group, which comprises of aides to former Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, as well as grassroots politicians, technocrats and journalists, made the pledge on Friday while congratulating him at his office in Agodi secretariat.
Speaking on behalf of the group, the Ex-Special Adviser to Governor Abiola Ajimobi on parastatals, Hon. Razaq Olubodun said politics should be about performance which is one of the reasons they are paying him the courtesy call and to get Governor Seyi Makinde re-elected in 2023 governorship election.
Olubodun was in company of APM State Chair/ Ex-IPAC’s Chairman, Otunba Adegbemiro Fagbemi; Ex-NUJ Chairman/ Ex- Media, Victor Oluwadamilare; Ex-SSA Water, Mr Olusola Sofowora; NAAT Treasurer CD, Comrade Adewumi Olowoniyi; Comrade Mukaila Mutiat Dasola; Comrade Dare Oladepo (Sec CD); Alhaji Dauda Alaraje; Mr Sumbo Owolabi; Ex-Head of Corporation (Water), Mr Sumbo Owolabi; Ex-LGA Chairman Atisbo, Hon. Ogunkunle Timothy and Engnr Taiwo Famoye.
While expressing his appreciation, the Deputy Governor, Bayo Lawal, said he was pleased and also emboldened in reality that the alliance consist of noble men and women, having seen some of the members.
He said they can collaborate since they have identified with the current administration, urging them to see to the victory of PDP in the next year election.
“Having professionals, politicians and other areas of specializations will surely drive our state. We want a win win situation. Oyo State belong to all of us, and we must make it good. If we make it good, we must make it the best. That’s the aspiration of a serious government.”
He added that no administration can score 100% even in outside country, saying the alliance will further create distinction of the government performance.
The Pan Socio Political Group, Afenifere, who also visited the Deputy Governor at his office described him as a man of impeccable character and track records whose goodwill and experience befit the status of Deputy Governor.
They said Bayo Lawal was one of their members before and they are are proud because he deserve the position by the nature of his character, experience and goodwill.
Dr. Gbola Adetunji, who spoke on their behalf, hinted that the group identify with Governor Seyi Makinde because he’s implementing the policy of late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
He added that the group really feel the purse of the government with the people as they believes in social Justice and welfare of the people.
In his remarks, the Deputy Governor, Bayo Lawal assured them that the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde will continue to deliver dividends of democracy to the door step of the masses.
He expressed his appreciation to the group for the courtesy and promised to revalidate his membership anytime soon.
