PDP members in Oriire call for primaries, reject imposition of candidate
Some members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oriire Local Government Area, Ogbomoso, on Tuesday, marched peacefully to the Oriire LG Party Secretariat in protest against the imposition of House of Assembly candidate on them.
The aggrieved members were carrying placards with various inscriptions, such as “The party belongs to us all, we reject imposition”; “Asiyan Oludije Le Sa Koba Fun Egbe PDP Ni Oriire”. Stop imposition in Orrire LG” among several others.
They are calling for a level-playing ground for all the aspirants eyeing the party’s ticket in the next OYHA election in Orire Constituency.
“We won’t allow some set of people to decide the fate of the entire PDP in their constituency. Not anymore”, said by the protesters in one voice.
Akintunde adeshina who spoke to Mouthpiece NGR on behalf of the protesters hinged the reasons for their actions on the need to register displeasures over the long time injustice in the party.

“We are vowing not to let the status quo remain the same, it is now time to move round for equity, peace and tranquility. Consensus are not determined by some set of people rather, all parties must be involved and unanimously agreed to.”
The protesters, however, lamented that “Imposition of unpopular candidate against the wish of the majority of the members might affect the chances of PDP at the poll.
The group said the plot to impose a particular candidate on other aspirants and members of the party could cause chaos and disharmony among the party members.

“What we want is that all candidates should be allowed to contest; they should all be made to tell the party members why we have to vote for them instead of this attempt to impose somebody on us.
