Oyo PDP: Stakeholders Affirmed Abass Adigun, Segun Popoola As Consensus Candidates For Ibadan South East and Ibadan North East – Dare Adeleke
Oyo PDP Chieftain, Dare Adeleke has strongly refuted a news item published in some Nigerian Newspapers reporting that party stakeholders in Ibadan South East and Ibadan North East did not agree to concensus candidates for the House of Representative tickets.
The news stated that the stakeholders in a meeting chaired by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, stakeholders agreed to Primary after failing to adopt a consensus agreement.
The news further stated that the meeting held in Ambassador Taofeeq Arapaja’s house, did not yield any results with regards to consensus.
However, in a statement released in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital, Wednesday evening, Adeleke refuted the report saying that it was “a lie from the pit of hell”.
Setting the record straight, Adeleke affirmed that stakeholders met at Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja ‘s house last week and agreed on two consensus candidates.
He states: “We resolved as follows:
1. That we believe in leadership of Engr Seyi Makinde
2. The consensus arrangement agreed upon at the stakeholders meeting, chaired by His Excellency is sacrosanct and we all affirmed the decision.
“Hon Abass Adigun Agboworin, HoR and Hon Segun Popoola, were unanimously ratified at Ambassador Arapaja’s house on that day at that meeting.”
“It is totally false and devious to try and spread fake news twisting the facts.
“I am advising those behind the incautious fallacy to desist from further misleading the people”, he said.
“Ibadan South East is the home of our Governor and Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja the PDP Deputy National Chairman, South.
It is therefore most important to tell those who signed the release to desist from tarnishing the good name we have built over the years.
“We reiterated at the meeting that MHR Abass Adigun Agboworin and MHA Segun Popoola are our bonafide candidate for both house.
“It is absolutely absurd that some people will sign a paper which is the direct opposite of our resolution and I hope they will give the correct version of the meeting, not to misinform our teeming members.
Adeleke revealed that the State constituency 1, is yet to be decided but that party leaders are working round the clock, to have consensus arrangement.
