Gov. Makinde is a man of his words whose promises beyond audio— LAUTECH Student, Ayodeji Felix

Keep every promise you make and only make promises you can keep. – Anthony Hitt

On Tuesday June 01, 2021 , Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State announced a 25 per cent reduction in school fees for students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomosho at the newly built amphitheatre. He maintained on that very day that the reduction would cut across the board, adding that he made the move despite the fact that the LAUTECH fee is still the lowest in the entire Southwest.

Also, His Excellency Seyi Makinde reiterated his promise very recently on Saturday, December 4, during the ceremony where he officially turned the sod of the administrative building of the University’s College of Agricultural Sciences and Renewable Natural Resources, at Iseyin. His fatherly response to the indigent students who were there to seek for help concerning the no tuition no exam policy lifted their souls and brought back their lost hope. He confirmed that the implementation of the reduction will be against the 2021/2022 academic session which begins this year, and lo, just like he said it has come to be.

It’s gratifying that Mr Governor fulfilled this great promise of his at the time that Nigeria as a Nation is experiencing a dwindling economy that has made it practically impossible for many parents to afford three-square meals not to talk of paying up their wards tuition fees. Mr Governor did not only shut the mouth of naysayers but as well disappoint those who insinuate that his promises are at any point audio. He’s once again proved to all and sundry that is a man who keeps promises and can be trusted.

It’s a known fact that the greatest challenge amongst students in Nigeria, which is very pervasive and which people seem not to be aware of, is that of poverty. Poverty has made the rate at which students are dropping out every year to be alarming. This 25 per cent reduction in tuition fees has shown Engnr. Seyi Makinde’s commitment to quality and affordable education for all students, regardless of their background or race. No wonder LAUTECH keeps leading as the best State University in Nigeria.  This Mr Governor’s kind gesture will surely help the indigent students who have always struggled to pay tuition fees.

It’s my belief that Mr Governor will continue his good work towards the betterment of LAUTECH and Oyo State at large

Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour- Romans 13:7

The efforts of all lovers of good Governance and LAUTECH Past Union Leaders especially the current Special Assistant to the Oyo State Governor on Project delivery and one-time LAUTECH SUG PRESIDENT, Hon. Oluwaseun Abiodun whose sobriquet is LAUREL, since May 29, 2019, that Mr. Governor was sworn in as the 28th Executive Governor of Oyo State, towards the implementation of this 25 percent reduction in tuition fees must be commended; LAUTECH continues to be a project well delivered.

God bless Oyo State.

God bless LAUTECH.

ISARINADE Ayodeji Felix.
