2022: Women to get rid of Elite conspiracy and political chauvinism— Princess Adedoja charges
A member of People’s Democratic Party in Oyo State and Founder ARA Foundation, Princess Aderonke Adedoja has charged women to challenge the masculine norms inherent in our political space.
She made this call on Wednesday in a statement personally signed by her and made available to newsmen in Ibadan.
According to her, “the year 2022 presents a great opportunity for women to challenge the masculine norms inherent in our political space especially as political activities are about to begin and spread like wildfire this year.”
“Women in all quarters need to get involved in political activities and prove how capable, competent, versatile and energetic they are.
An active political feminism is required to solve the long term problem of Nigerian politics.”
“The current situation calls for proactive and capable womenfolk with pedigree; those who can garner votes for political parties and deliver them at the poll.”
“Currently, the constitutions of the major political parties (APC and PDP) in Nigeria sets aside 35 percent for women and this can be said to be enough as a start.”
“Women must disregard campaigns of calumny about inactiveness or incapability to take the lead in our political space. They should not succumb to political adversaries who run them down in politics.”
“Another practice in our politics that needs to be set aside, is the culture of sidelining women after working assiduously before, during and after the elections. They come out in enmass to vote, and thereafter abandoned and denied due recognition.”
“This is a new dawn and the womenfolk must rise and take a position that will transform our political environment.”
“There is a need to come up with a viable feminine crusade to engender positive change.”
“They must support each other, eschew jealousy and envy and join hands as the nation builders.
Women, have all its takes to get the job done.”
