Akala technically APC leader — Akintola
Chief Niyi Akintola, All Progressives Congress’ chieftain, has explained why Alao Akala, the former governor of Oyo state is technically Oyo APC leader despite disapproval from different fractions within the party.
He further stressed that there is no leadership vacuum as far as Oyo state APC chapter is concerned.
According to Akintola, who spoke at the monthly breakfast meeting of the South West Group of Online Publishers, SWEGOP, said former governor Adebayo Alao-Akala, is technically the leader of APC in Oyo State considering the provisions that instituted the party.
He said that “Articles 11 and 12 of our party constitution have stated it clearly. In case there is no former governor, former deputy, ex-senate president, ex-reps speaker, ex-assembly speaker, ex-assembly deputy speaker are members of the Board of Trustees at the state level. The state executives report to them.
“But unfortunately, we have never had something like that before. Being the only former governor in the state, Alao-Akala is technically the leader of the party in the state. I am also a member of the committee being a former deputy speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly.” He added.
