Nigerian PHD student Wins Best Presentation Award in Europe
PhD student Zahrah Ibrahim has won the inaugural European Drilling Engineering Association Innovation award.
Zahra, a PhD student at the School of Engineering, became the winner of the award At The University Of Aberdeen.
The award comes with a whopping €5,000 cash prize with paid travel and accommodation.
According to the organisers of the award, Zahrah’s paper was not only impressive, it was relevant to the industry as well.
The school on its Facebook page wrote:
“The School of Engineering would like to congratulate PhD student Zahrah Ibrahim, who was selected as the winner of the inaugural European Drilling Engineering Association Drilling Engineering (DEA(e)) Innovation award, which comes with 5,000 Euros cash prize and attendance at 2 DEA(e) meetings with paid travel and accommodation expenses in June 2019.”
“All applications were reviewed based on their innovation, relevance to the DEA(e) and impact to the industry and the steering committee agreed that Zahrah’s presentation scored high in all three categories.”
It should be noted that Zahrah’s presentation had very impressive high score in all three categories of the award’s criteria of innovation, relevance and impact to the industry.
Zahra becomes another Nigerian to be honored in the academic field for her immense achievement.
Ngozi Okpara, a member of the faculty of the School of Media and Communication, Pan-Atlantic University, won the best research paper award in, Madrid, Spain.
