PHOTOS: “My Mum Gave Birth To Thirteen Of Us, But Only Two Survived”, (Mother of LAUTECH Professor Narrates Ordeal)

“OMO AJANAKU KO GBODO YA ARARA”

An elephant is not likely to give birth to a dwarf. I witnessed an occasion on Saturday, in which some lessons were learnt.
My eyes saw different thing on Saturday, the thing my eyes saw, sent it to my brain which later gave it a deep thought that polished the whole episode to make it thought provoking piece I’m about to open now.
Here is a woman that gave the testimony of her life as follows:
‘My Mum gave birth to thirteen of us but only two survived. I lost my dad at six, though my mum promised to do all she could to cater for us that remained but constrained with poverty.

I only struggled to have grade 2 when a young man though older than I came to woo me which later translated to our wedding. My husband since then had been the pillar of support for me as I enrolled for GCE and advance level examination, passed them and entered university. I completed first degree, went for Master, did PhD and in 2012, pronounced as Professor of Social studies’
The above story might look so simple but the product of the wedlock between this woman and her husband is the basis for my write-up.
She had five children and all are males, all are graduates of University. For your information, one is a Professor of Agric Engineering in LAUTECH, Two Engineers, one later turned Clergy, One Doctor of Mathematics, while the last born is a laboratory technologist.
My people, these children gave their mum befitting retirement ceremony on Saturday.
The message of omo Ajanaku ko gbodo ya arara now comes: “I commend many of us who have had our children graduated from different universities, well done.
I will enjoin the rest to please as a matter of importance make sure at least one or all our children attend university. What will it profit a university worker that his/her child/ren fails to go to school.
The whole story radiates around an iconic woman Professor (Mrs) Alice Arinlade Jekayinfa.
May we all end well.
