JUST IN: NANS Set To Shut Down Osun State College of Education, Threatens War With Provost

The National Association of Nigerian Students, Osun Chapter, has threatened to embark on a mass action following the detention of its members by the provost of Osun State College of Education.

The group in a press release frowned at the anti poor policy of the provost and his Inability to manage the students effectively.
It vowed to begin protest on Thursday, 6th June, 2019 from Ola Iya junction down to the State House of Assembly Complex.
A copy of its notification letter obtained by Mouthpiece NG and signed by its Chairman, Abidoye Omololu read:
“After series of consultations and efforts to ensure normalcy in Osun State College of Education Ilesha, we are compel with the inability of the College provost to manage the most valuable asset (Students) of the school to conclude that his incompetency in holding public office is second to none.
“It would be recalled that NANS had earlier made moves to avert the tsunami befalling the school by seeking audience with the school authority (believing that our intervention would prevent black events and help) but all efforts wasted following the provost refusal to give audience. It degenerated to a more worrisome dimension when Professor Kola Kazeem – the Provost, completely lost managerial understanding of governance and conflict resolution.
“In a sane society, for every action, there must be reaction. How on earth would an educated fellow of Professor Kazeem’s calibre expect the students to keep mute in face of anomallies as; avoidabe “NHIS” extortion and “Medical Insurance” scam, poor welfarism, devastated infrastructures amidst others.
“Instead of the Professor Kazeem led management team to address the issues diplomatically, he had resulted to indictment, harassment, frustration and victimization of student leaders with cooked stories all in the air to suit his shallow actions. It has long played out in his dictatorial proscription of the Students’ Union Body.
“While we cannot continue to see our members in detention over what should conveniently be given.
Demands
We hereby demand that our members in detention be released immediately.
We demand that the Students’ Union Body be reinstated immediately.
We demand that more commitment be shown to funding of the school and other state owned tertiary institutions in the state.
We hereby give 24hours ultimatum to meet up with the above demands, failure of which we shall role out our arsenal in registering our dissatisfaction on Thursday the 6th June, 2019 from Ola Iya junction down to the State House of Assembly Complex.
It will be wise not to test our resolve on this, he concluded.
