“If I Had My Way, I Will Continue Using This System”, Says LAUTECH VC (photos)
The Vice Chancellor of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology LAUTECH has told the Student Union Executive Caretaker Committee and volunteers of the Excruciating Culture that “if he had his way, he would continue using the system of caretaker committee.”
Professor Ologunde, made the statement while commending the students Union Executive Caretaker Committee and Volunteers
of the Excruciating Culture for the great effort, hard work, and diligence in the planning of the Excruciating Culture Program when they were with him last week.
Mouthpiece NG correspondent in LAUTECH reports that, “due to the recent proscription of the Student Union government, the University inaugurated the Caretaker Committee.
Ologunde who vouched that the caretagker committee have been doing tremendous work since they assumed office, also said he was proud of how far they have come, and shouldn’t be back down.
At the meeting, the President of the Caretaker Committee, Olabiyi Olamide Anthony gave the Vice Chancellor the breakdown of events.
The program came up on the 1st of May, 2019 at MKO lecture theater, and the volunteers had started awareness a week before the visitation. The program entailed spoken words competition.
Seminars, a panel session (students have got to ask questions from lecturers from their respective faculties), raffle draw, and talent showcase.
The program was aimed to groom students, and to ward them away from the social vices such as cultism, cyber crime, and drug abuse.
Olamide went on to explain that many students in LAUTECH are not aware of the humanitarian, paramilitary, and selfless organizations on school that are standby to help, which was the event used as an outreach for interested members, while also enlightening the populace by Redefining Student Unionism .
The LAUTECH athlete, Gilardino who ran for charity, won a hundred thousand naira for coming first place, and donated it to the disables was also recognized by the Vice Chancellor.
Prof. Micheal Ologunde said he was proud of him, and urged him to keep doing well.
The athlete took a photograph with the Vice Chancellor to be published by the PRO of the school.
The Vice Chancellor also purchased one of the Merchandise designed by one of the volunteers; Okunola O. Zainab to show his support to the working team. Volunteers that were present at the visitation cut across all registered organization on campus, and have been working tirelessly to make it successful, Mouthpiece NG correspondent reports.
After the visitation, the members of the student union executive caretaker committee, members, and volunteers of the Excruciating culture trooped out into the fields of LAUTECH to continue their awareness.
The alumni park situated at Under G, outside the school gate boomed with vigor as people purchased tickets for the raffle, and promised to bring their friends for the event. “Turnout was great!”
Adedokun Khaleed Oluwatobiloba, the president of JCI, a registered organization on campus expressed delight at the traffic the awareness created. The awareness was also supported by Munch it Snack.
It was a long but successful awareness day for the Excruciating Culture, such that the members were in awe, for the event.
